How to ask your data a question in plain English

Open a report, ask the assistant a question in everyday language, and check the answer against the chart behind it. Narrated, 1 minute 22 seconds.

The steps

  1. 1Every report has an assistant beside it that reads the report's data, not just its layout.
  2. 2Not sure what to ask? Start with a suggestion such as Summarise this report.
  3. 3Or type your own question the way you would ask a colleague: no SQL, no field names.
  4. 4The assistant works the answer out from your data and explains it in plain words.
  5. 5Check any answer against the chart behind it.
  6. 6If an answer looks wrong, say so and tell it what you expected. If the data cannot answer, it says so instead of guessing.
  7. 7Ask in Arabic or French and the answer comes back in the same language.
