Backup Organization Settings — Peace of Mind for Every Administrator
We are excited to announce Backup Organization Settings, a new feature that gives every AIInsights365.net administrator a comprehensive, on-demand safety net for their entire tenant configuration. With a single click, you can capture every datasource definition, every AI agent, every dashboard layout, every RBAC role assignment, and every branding asset into a single signed, encrypted snapshot — ready to be restored in seconds if something goes wrong.
Why This Feature Matters
Modern analytics tenants are dense with configuration. A mature AIInsights365.net organization can easily contain dozens of datasources, hundreds of saved AI agent prompts, thousands of dashboard tiles, intricate RBAC matrices, custom themes, SSO mappings, webhook endpoints, and SEO entries. All of this represents real engineering and analytical work, and all of it is at risk from the usual suspects: a misclick by a well-meaning administrator, a faulty bulk import, a renamed schema that breaks downstream agents, or an inadvertent permission change that locks a department out of its dashboards. Until today, recovering from such incidents required a support ticket and an engineering on-call. With Backup Organization Settings, recovery becomes a self-service operation that takes less time than the meeting required to decide who should run it.
What Gets Captured
A snapshot is intentionally comprehensive. When you trigger a backup, the platform serializes:
- Datasources — connection metadata, schema introspection cache, encrypted credentials, sample preview rules, and column-level security flags.
- AI Agents — system prompts, model selections, token budgets, datasource bindings, and per-agent guardrail configurations.
- Dashboards & Charts — tile layouts, chart definitions, dashboard-level filters, share links (tokens are rotated on restore), and pinned chat references.
- RBAC & Users — roles, group memberships, permission overrides, SSO mappings, and 2FA enrollment status (TOTP secrets are not exported, by design).
- Branding & Theming — logos, color palettes, email templates, domain bindings, and the welcome-page customizations served to anonymous visitors.
- Subscriptions & Webhooks — every Send Subscription schedule and every outbound webhook configuration, including their last-run audit metadata.
- SEO & Public Content — sitemap entries, blog posts, doc articles, and meta tag overrides.
Snapshots You Can Trust
A backup is only valuable if you can prove its integrity at restore time. Every snapshot produced by Backup Organization Settings is:
- Encrypted at rest with the per-tenant data encryption key, so an exfiltrated snapshot file is useless without the originating tenant’s key vault.
- Signed with the platform’s release-signing key, allowing the restore pipeline to detect any tampering or corruption before applying changes.
- Versioned with the platform schema version, so a snapshot taken on one release can be safely restored onto a later release through automatic migration.
- Auditable with a manifest that lists every captured object by type and ID, reviewable in the Super-Admin portal before you commit to a restore.
Smart Restore, Not Blind Replay
Restoring a snapshot is more nuanced than overwriting your tenant. The restore wizard offers three modes designed for the realistic scenarios administrators face:
- Full Restore — replace the current tenant configuration with the snapshot. Best for catastrophic recovery scenarios or returning to a known-good baseline after a botched migration.
- Selective Restore — pick exactly which object types or specific items to restore. Recover a single accidentally deleted dashboard, or roll back only the agent prompts while keeping today’s new datasources intact.
- Diff & Merge — compare the snapshot against the live tenant and generate a side-by-side change list. Approve or reject each change individually, with an optional dry-run that simulates the restore in an isolated transaction.
Sensitive linkages are reconciled intelligently. For example, if you restore a dashboard that references a datasource that no longer exists, the restore wizard prompts you to remap, recreate, or skip rather than silently failing. AI agents whose system prompts mention removed schemas are flagged for review. Subscriptions whose recipients are no longer organization members are reported so an administrator can decide whether to reactivate them under a new owner.
Automatic Backups for Critical Tenants
In addition to on-demand snapshots, Backup Organization Settings supports a scheduled backup policy. Administrators can configure daily, weekly, or monthly automatic snapshots; choose how many generations to retain; and route the encrypted snapshot files to either platform-managed storage (default) or a customer-owned S3-compatible bucket for organizations with strict data-residency requirements. The full backup history is browsable from a single screen, and any historical snapshot can be downloaded for offline archival.
