How to connect a database
Connect SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL or a cloud warehouse with a connection string, route on-premises servers through the gateway, and test. Narrated.
The steps
- 1AI Insights 365 connects to the databases you already run: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQLite, Oracle and MongoDB, and warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift and Databricks.
- 2Choose your database. For SQL Server, name the datasource and paste the connection string, with a database user and password if they aren't already in it.
- 3If the server is inside your company network, turn on Route via Gateway and choose your organisation's gateway. Cloud databases, such as Azure SQL, connect directly.
- 4Each type asks only for what it needs. PostgreSQL, for example, takes a connection string, with an optional username and password.
- 5Then test the connection. Credentials are stored encrypted, and the connection is used to answer your questions, not to take a copy of your data.
