How to set up the on-premises gateway

Query databases inside your network without opening inbound ports: install the Windows gateway, register it with a single-use token, and route datasources through it. Narrated.

The steps

  1. 1When a database sits behind your firewall, the AI Insights Gateway lets the cloud query it without opening any inbound ports, and without exposing the database to the internet.
  2. 2An admin sets it up once, from Settings, Manage Gateways. Download the Windows installer, and run it on a server that can reach your data sources.
  3. 3Then generate a registration token and paste it into the gateway during setup. Each token works once, and expires after 24 hours.
  4. 4Registered gateways appear in this list, with their status and last heartbeat, and credentials are encrypted with AES-256.
  5. 5Then, when you connect an on-premises database, turn on Route via Gateway and choose it. The query runs on your server, and only the results come back.
